The first thing you will notice when you head into the Downtown San Pedro Farmers Market is the seductive aroma of tri-tip being grilled atop a fire pit barbecue. Many hardly make it past this vendor without grabbing a little lunch, but those that do will surely be able to find other delectable options. It is worth it to drop by with a friend just to grab the Green Boba juice, which is full of healthy vegetables and still tastes delicious. The hummus vendors are there every week and will let you sample their tasty treats. Kids like to eat the scrumptious Greek yogurt, especially the pumpkin flavored one, while I recommend mixing the roasted tomatoes with the goat cheese and putting it in a veggie wrap. If you can’t decide what to get, the merchants have mastered the art of mixing and matching and will let you sample savory combinations they have created.
Visiting the farmers market is a fantastic opportunity for taking a morning stroll and picking up some fresh local fruits and vegetables to take home. Pick up fresh seasonal fruit when it is juicy and ripe. There is also a raw honey stall. Many merchants sell heirloom vegetables and organic produce. Some vendors bring produce from as close as Riverside and San Bernardino. Nearly all the vendors will let you taste a sample before you buy, which makes it a great opportunity to be adventurous and try something new. Some will even generously throw in a few extra pieces of fruit with your purchase.

Artists also sell their wares including jewelry, paintings, home sewn clothing and the most precious little outfits for babies. With four little nieces and nephews running around, the adorable little hand sewn baby outfits are hard to resist. There is even a tiny chef hat and apron with the cutest prints. The jewelry there is uniquely and beautifully designed. It would make the perfect gift for any occasion. Scented potpourri salts, charming flowers, and attractive clothing also make great handcrafted gifts.
The most amazing things sold at the market is the garlic peeler, grater and spice mill. Peel garlic effortlessly, grate it up easily then add it to your dish. It’s so easy to use my 8 year old has become my sous-chef and actually enjoys grating the garlic up for me. He also likes using the spice mill to add salt to the dishes.
Visit the San Pedro Farmers Market to enjoy eating delicious food while listening to live music. Take the time to stroll down the street leisurely and sample what the vendors have to offer. It is very a very relaxing and rewarding way to spend a Friday morning.

Located in the heart of historic downtown San Pedro, every Friday afternoon from 9:00a.m. – 2:00pm. Parking is free on 5th street between Mesa and Centre or there is metered parking also available. Also stop in at Yoga People’s Health and Dance. They offer a $3:00 Zumba class at 10:30am that is so fun, I have even seen the receptionist jump up and join in when there are no customers waiting.
