Sirinat Thai: Sweet, Spicy, Exotic

By Teresa Harnage Leave a Comment

Sirinat Thai

Is it just me, or are some of the best restaurants in the South Bay hidden in small strip malls? It certainly rings true when it comes to Sirinat Thai, which shares its parking lot with a dry cleaner and a tanning salon. Despite its strange location, Sirinat Thai is one of the best family owned restaurants in the South Bay.  The idea for the restaurant began at a small farmer’s market in Bangkok. Sirinat watched her parents serve Thai food there, and wanted to continue the family legacy by opening a family owned and operated restaurant serving the traditional Thai food that was such a huge part of her childhood. Her brother Tong and her parents shared that passion and dream of owning their own restaurant. Sirinat Thai was born from those dreams and opened in 2009 in San Pedro.

Experience the Zen

From the outside, Sirinat Thai doesn’t look like much, but once you enter you will be immediately taken aback by the beauty of the small, classy restaurant. Dim lighting and Thai art gives the restaurant a peaceful Zen atmosphere. Red and black tablecloths cover the tables and gold decorations adorn the walls. Cushions add an ornamental touch and complete the Oriental ambiance. Seating consists of booths along the walls and small tables. The service is always welcoming and friendly. It’s a great restaurant for a small family get-together or an intimate date with someone special.

Sweet, Spicy and Exotic

The family style dining at Sirinat Thai is fantastic for people who can’t make up their minds. You can choose a few dishes to share, so that you can taste more than one of the delicious dishes. Unfortunately, that means sharing things you may not want to share, like the Cheese Puffs! These yummy appetizers are crispy on the outside and have creamy crab and cream cheese filling inside. They are served with a warm sweet and sour sauce. Make sure to save room for the main course! There are many yummy options to choose from. My family really enjoys the yellow curry and pumpkin curry.

The seductive sweet and spicy flavors blend together perfectly for these savory dishes. Try their Chow Mein for fresh crispy vegetables served with egg noodles. Thai food just wouldn’t be the same without rice and Sirinat Thai has six different rice dishes to complement the other menu items. For a traditional Thai beverage that refreshes the palate they serve Chang beer and Thai Iced Tea. Even if you feel full, order the Coconut Ice Cream. It’s light and refreshing with an amazing coconut flavor. The meal isn’t complete without this seductive treat.

Specials

Most of the items on the menu are customizable, which is fantastic for anyone with dietary restrictions or specific preferences when it comes to proteins. You can choose from chicken, beef, pork, Tofu or shrimp for almost any dish. That makes Sirinat one of the most Vegetarian friendly restaurants in the area. In addition you can pick how spicy you want your order to be. You can get something mild for the kids and super spicy for those with daring taste buds.  Sirinat Thai also offers customers the ability to order food online for delivery or to go. Order a gourmet meal and have it delivered straight to your house!
