Delicious Patisserie Chantilly

By Teresa Harnage 3 Comments

Patisserie Chantilly

Patisserie Chantilly is tucked away in a small strip mall in Lomita, one of the more inland cities in the South Bay, and is an amazing patisserie featuring mouthwatering French-Japanese inspired desserts. Locals call the café Chantilly’s due to the sign which reads Patisserie in small letters and Chantilly in large bright green. The location and sign have helped keep sweet spot a local secret. However, Patisserie Chantilly has been gaining attention due to raving yelp reviews, word of mouth appraisals, and recommendations from articles in the LA Times as well as LA weekly.

Pastry Chef Keiko Nojima individually handcrafts each delicious dessert daily using fresh ingredients and leaving out all additives and preservatives. Ingredients are carefully selected from Italy and Japan to ensure quality. Not to mention that the desserts look elegant and gorgeous, with obvious skill taken to present the highest quality pastries. Macaroons require delicate care and time to prepare and therefore are only available on the weekends. Some desserts are offered seasonally or as a special, guaranteeing that only the freshest ingredients are used.

Ambiance

Walking in the café, it’s refreshing to see such a clean, bright and airy atmosphere. The white tables with bright pink and lime green chairs seem to fit well with the vibrant colors and freshness of the desserts. Also making it a fun, relaxing place to sit and enjoy tasty treats.

What’s good?

Customers give glowing reviews of the Choux aux Sesame, black sesame crème puffs. Not a fan of sesame I was a little skeptical and only tried them after a friend bought some for me. They were amazing! The flavor of sesame was delicately balanced with the creamy sweetness of the crème filling.  Unfortunately for me the cream puffs have become so popular they sell out early. Despite the yumminess of the crème puffs I have difficulty deciding which Chantilly’s dessert is my favorite. The raspberry macaroons which are made perfect and fresh only on the weekends, and the Mont Fraise, a Strawberry mousse on a crispy tart with milk jelly, strawberries & cream, are so delicate and delicious as well. A cup of crema coffee with dessert completes the touch.

The pretty pastries from Patisserie Chantilly make perfect presents for special occasions. The small treats look particularly attractive when mixed and matched in a cute bakery box. Chantilly’s also sells beautifully adorned cakes for birthdays, anniversaries, special occasions, or just because they taste yummy!

I stopped by Chantilly. I had the most awesome Mont Blanc – which was topped with edible gold. This place is a great find. Thanks!

Thank you for the feedback Freddy. I’m glad you enjoyed your dessert. Are there any other dessert places in the South Bay that you enjoy?

I like Pollyann’s bakery in San Pedro. 🙂
