If you like local, handcrafted goods, then you will love the South Bay’s only permanent craft marketplace. Crafted in San Pedro is where local artisans gather to sell their handcrafted treasures all year long. Everything sold at crafted is handcrafted and therefore one of a kind. Locally made goods make unique and wonderful gifts for loved ones.
The building that houses Crafted was designed and created through the refurbishing of remnant World War II warehouses. The huge building has large windows and is very spacious which gives customers the feeling of being in an open air type of market.
Arts and their Artisans
Crafted has a little something for everyone and brings out the inner artist in all. San Pedro is known for its artistic community and many artists feature their work at Crafted, including local photographers, illustrators, and painters. Crafted artisans sell lotions, shampoos, and soaps made with natural, green, eco-friendly ingredients, which are great for allergy sufferers. Several vendors sell hand sewn apparel for both children and adults. Kids love the picture books, stuffed animals and toys that were lovingly stitched together by hand. Grab a snack at one of the booths that sell homemade foods and beverages or hit up one of the gourmet food trucks in the picnic area.
Kids and adults alike are free to express themselves in the creation station. An area that is set up so that visitors can work with local artists to create their own one of a kind pieces of art. Artisans also host workshops and classes. Tools, techniques and materials are provided so that guests can learn the artists’ trade. There has been a glass fusing class and a tie dye class. Many of the vendors also sell kits so that the customer has a chance to create something original at home. These kits are great for parties or can be the perfect answer to a kid’s lament of, “I’m bored.”
Events for Your Inner Artist at Crafted
Crafted hosts several events on the weekends. They frequently have live local bands playing. Most events include diy projects, raffles, make and takes, and locally handcrafted beer. Events often include appearances by other local businesses such as the San Pedro Brewing Company and Off the Vine. Students in San Pedro have also been invited to display their work at Crafted several times. They have even been asked to participate in an art competition hosted by the San Pedro Art Association. There is always something going on at Crafted.
Crafted is very supportive of the local business community and artists. Most of the vendors are local and many local businesses are featured at Crafted events. They worked with the Marine Mammal Care center and donated funds to assist in the saving of local marine animals. Crafted has become a big part of the San Pedro Community. Support your local business owners and buy gifts for family at the same time!
