The South Bay is currently undergoing a craft beer revolution. Breweries serving quality handcrafted beer are starting to emerge all over the South Bay. Torrance in particular is becoming a brewery hub. These Torrance Breweries are sharing space and are creating a community together with the common factor being an appreciation for amazing handcrafted beer. Each has something to offer that is different from the others.
Monkish Brewing Co. is clean, minimalistic brewery with natural light streaming in big windows during the day. There is enough seating for about 50 or so customers with some quirky beer barrels to sit on around the edges. A separate brewing room holds more seating and the brewing equipment.
One Beer: Rosa’s Hips is a customer favorite with a caramel, malty taste and floral, herbal finish. It’s a really tasty beer, especially for those who don’t particularly care for the bitterness in most beers. 7.3% ABV

Strand Brewing Co. is a large warm brewery with an open garage door on one side that lets the sunshine in. There is few beer barrel tables in the tasting room that add character to the space. Most noticeable is the sense of community you get while you are there, due in a large part to the friendliness of the owners.
One Beer: The 24th Street Pale Ale is an amazing balanced brew with a citrusy, hoppy, complex taste which keeps customers coming back for more (and taking home growlers). 6.1% ABV It’s also Strands signature beer and was the only beer they sold for their first year.

Red Car Brewing Co. offers plenty of seating in this wonderful red brick building that used to be an old fire house. The exposed beams in the roof are especially intriguing. It’s a restaurant as well as a brewery so come with an appetite!
One Beer: The Big Red Ale is a flavorsome English style Amber Ale. The color is a beautiful dark amber red color. It has a malty, caramel, full-bodied flavor and is a very aromatic beer. There is some spice too, giving the beer a nice complexity. 5.74% ABV

Smog City Brewing Co. has a big open airy area with brewing equipment and beers fermenting in the background. There are just a few chairs and beer barrel tables for seating available.
One Beer: The Smog City Groundwork Porter is an incredible mocha flavored beer. It has a heavy espresso taste with a chocolaty essence. I’m not sure how they managed to make such a balanced brew without the excess of sweetness or bitterness that can sometimes accompany coffee flavored beers. This is the perfect dessert beer! 6% ABV
