Hermosa Beach City School District has has one elementary school – Hermosa View School, and one middle school – Hermosa Valley School. For high school, students either have to go to Mira Costa High School or Redondo Union High School. Another notable private school is Our Lady of Guadalupe School.
Hermosa View School
This school provides education from kindergarten to 2nd grade. The computer lab in the school has more than 29 computers. The school also contains a library, a language lab, a music program, and many other facilities.
Students receive additional assistance from the librarian, physical training instructor, a speech therapist, a reading specialist, a resource specialist, a school councilor, and others. The school has received the California Distinguished School award twice. Some years ago it was also honored with the National Blue Ribbon. The school has been consistently getting high scores on the Academic Performance Index. The school has 20 class rooms.
Five days every week, enrichment classes are held after school. These programs include Savoire Fair, A6 Academy, and Kids Kabaret. There are classes for dance, basketball, Spanish, and drama. Parents can also volunteer at the school and they can take part in the Nutrition Education Program, Garden Program, and the Young at Art Program.
Educational and financial support is provided by several organizations such as Women’s Club, Kiwanis, Rotary, HB Firemen, the City of Hermosa Beach, McAlister Foundation, and others. There is also an extended day program for parents who would like to leave their wards at school for more time.

Hermosa Valley School
Hermosa Valley School is administered by the Hermosa Beach City School district. It provides classes from 3rd grade to 8th grade. The school is a California Distinguished School and was even awarded a National Blue Ribbon. More than 800 students are being educated at the school.
The school has a 30:1 student ratio from 4th to 8th standard. The local community is actively involved in the school’s upkeep. The school has a strong School Site Council, volunteer program, and education foundation. It even receives support from community businesses.
The school has a science lab, library, gymnasium, and various other facilities. Seventy five percent of the school’s population is composed of Caucasians. The school has been consistently scoring high on the Academic Performance Index – in 2012 the growth API was 941. Mira Costa High School
Mira Costa High School has a four year school program from 9th grade to 12th grade. More than 2300 students are enrolled in the school. The school has three departments – Academic, Educational Support, and Sports.
Academic programs include computer technology, mathematics, foreign language, social studies, science, visual/performing arts, and many more. Students can even take part in sports. Some of these sports include football, swimming, tennis, volleyball, wrestling, lacrosse, golf, and badminton. The school also has a Model United Nations, dance team, orchestra, band, drama team, and a choir.

Redondo Union High School
Redondo Union High School was established in 1905, which makes it one of the oldest schools in California. The school covers an area of 56 acres. The school educated more than 2500 students. Students can take classes in technical education, English, foreign language, math, science, social studies, visual and performing arts, computers, and more.
Students can participate in sports such as football, volleyball, water polo, tennis, basketball, wrestling, baseball, and more.

Our Lady of Guadalupe School
The motto of this school is ‘Where Faith Meets Reason’. The school provides faith and value-based quality education. It has a low student teacher ratio. The school admits students from preschool to 8th grade. The school is affiliated to Our Lady of Guadalupe Roman Catholic Church that was established in 1920.
